Responding in Faith

Dear Parish Family,

We are delighted to announce that we have officially begun our first St. Timothy’s Capital Campaign with our theme being ‘Responding In Faith – His Vision, Our Mission’. I really need not remind all of us that our whole beginning as a new parish six months ago was a ‘Response in Faith’ as we moved beyond the chains of the Episcopal Church into what will very soon become a new Anglican Province in North America led by the Common Cause Partners of which AMiA (and St. Timothy’s) is a part. That original ‘Response in Faith’ is the continuing mission of our parish family.

I find it to be truly amazing to look back over the past six months to see the hand of God in what has been accomplished thus far. It began with the true miracle of God leading us within a two week period of establishing our offices on Main Street, our Sunday morning worship and education space at the Jr. High, our Wednesday evening worship and education space at the Bible Church, our Thursday evening choir space at the Methodist Church, and our new and long-lasting friendship with the people at the Baptist Church. And, as I see it, a huge part of the miracle is when I look out over the Nave (cafetorium) on Sunday mornings beginning at 7:30 AM and see anywhere from thirty to fifty people faithfully show up every week to set-up chairs, the altar area, the sound system, the coffee hosting tables and the education space. And I must say, the biggest part of the miracle is when I look out over the Nave (cafetorium) at 9:30 AM (or maybe I should say at 9:45 when all the latecomers have arrived) and see the people of God who have faithfully submitted to the will of God in this wilderness experience. In spite of the difficulties we face in this wilderness between where we were and where we will eventually be, I am overcome with joy at knowing that you all have remained faithful to the Gospel and to the call of God in your lives. I am so proud to be your Rector.

We now have before us the opportunity to cross the Jordan River into the Promised Land, which, of course, will either be at the Baptist Church or our new FM2920 property. The next week or two will lead us into a more definitive direction.

Either way we will need to not only pay the $400,000 for the purchased land on FM2920 (upon which we will either eventually build or use as an investment at a later date), but we will also, more than likely, spend $100,000 to $200,000 to renovate the old chapel at the Baptist Church to call our own (St. Timothy’s) until either we or the Baptists make a decision to build elsewhere. A further purchase expense will be necessary when that decision is eventually made.

Thus we have come to the beginning of our ‘Responding in Faith’ Capital

Campaign led by our faithful friend and consultant, The Rev. Scott Blick. Our Kick-Off Sunday will be on October 19th with a video during the sermon time, and will come to a completion with our Celebration
Thanksgiving Dinner on Sunday, November 16th, with a lot of activity in between. We have a great leadership team who will be asking for your involvement to help. Please ‘Respond in Faith’ by saying yes.
