Equipping the Saints Initiative

“Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.”
- Ephesians 4:11-12

  • Apostles - means “one who is sent.” The apostle served as God’s ambassadors.

  • Prophets - act as messengers, telling people what God wants them to know.

  • Evangelists - proclaim the Gospel.

  • Pastors (Shepherds) - take care of sheep. The word shepherd was used metaphorically in both Old and New testaments to speak of caring leadership.

  • Teachers - instruct people in sound doctrine.

Our Equipping the Saints Initiative (EtSI) has used the Biblical Model of Ephesians 4:11-12 to create a multi-tiered, fluid approach for using our God given gifts to teach and strengthen our disciples here at St. Timothy’s, so that they can go out and make new disciples. We have grouped our various ministries under nine teams led by clergy and church leaders, so that we can support each ministry and every church member can find a place to utilize their spiritual gifts and grow in their faith. Our various ministries are listed under the ministries tab.
